An Invitation to Discover Our Ancestors' Traditions

Please accept our invitation to re-discover our ancestors’ traditions at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel West. We continue to have Mass in Italian at 10 a.m. every Sunday and Stations of the Cross in Italian during Lent. We celebrate the changing of the seasons as related to a particular saint. In addition, we invite you to celebrate a birthday, wedding anniversary, memorial Mass, special family event, etc. with an Italian Mass.

We celebrate the arrival of spring with St. Joseph’s Day on March 19.  We begin with Mass in Italian followed by the traditional “St. Joseph’s table.”

St. Anthony marks the arrival of summer on June 13. We have Mass in Italian with refreshments following. The highlight of our summer is the feast of our Patroness, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. We celebrate a bi-lingual Mass (English/Italian) followed by a traditional procession of the Madonna and saints through the streets of the neighborhood.

Fall is marked by a special tribute to San Padre Pio on September 23. As always, there is Mass in Italian with refreshments afterward. We invite you to join us for Sunday Italian Mass and our other Italian celebrations including La Festa delle Donne. Copies of the Italian Mass are provided so you can follow along. We would be happy to have you join our Italian choir or read in Italian at our Sunday Italian Mass as well.

We also offer Italian classes on Monday evenings from 7:15 to 9 p.m.  The Italian classes (beginning and advance) run from October through May. There is no fee but donations are appreciated. For further information, please contact Fr. Arcangelo at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel rectory at 216-651-5043 or Holly Neubert at 216-701-4334.
