Capracotta
Capracotta, at almost 5,000 ft. in Italy’s High Molise, commands an astonishingly beautiful vantage point above the Sangro Valley. The town, once a center for the long distance sheepherding trade, today takes advantage of its attractive meadows and hills to offer some of the best cross country skiing in the southern Apennines. When the skis are put away, Capracotta becomes a much sought after destination for those desiring a pristine getaway where local food traditions are proudly observed. Photos thanks to Francesco Di Rienzo of Amici di Capracotta.
