Italy in February

February in Italy is a great time to spend most of your days indoors at museums, churches, shops, and the theatre. Budget-conscious travelers will love the prices of traveling to Italy during this off-season month. Typically, the weather is cold and damp in most of the country. You can find snow in the mountains and some of the lower elevations, great for skiing and snowboarding, so bring your boots. However, a sunny day is not unheard of, so you may want to don your sunglasses too. While February may not seem like an ideal time to travel to Italy, it can be very lively. The biggest event in Italy in February is Carnevale. There’s a good chance that some of the Carnevale festivals in Venice (arguably the best place to celebrate Carnival in the world) will fall sometime during February. Venice’s Carnival celebrations would be the exception to the lower prices and smaller crowds during this month. If Carnivale is on your bucket list, February just may be the time to travel.
