The Italian Heritage Club of Benedictine High School will sponsor its 27th annual Festa on Saturday, April 29 at the high school. Hon. Basil M. Russo, National President of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, will be honored as “Person of the Year.”
The Festa adult dinner-dance raises money for the Italian Heritage Club of Benedictine High School and scholarships for students with financial needs. The Festa has raised over $250,000 in scholarships since its inception. The evening includes an antipasto, pasta, meatballs, and sausage dinner, desserts, beverages, a Chinese auction, and sideboards. The festivities take place in the cafeteria.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Italian musical favorites, both traditional and modern, complement the evening.
Throughout the years, other recipients of the Italian Heritage Club “Person of the Year” have included Cleveland Browns Hall of Famer, Dante Lavelli, Bishop Anthony M. Pilla, Paul Sciria and Angie Spitalieri of La Gazzetta Italiana, former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Vince Campanella, former Cleveland Browns head coach Sam Rutigliano, and Jim Simone, Cleveland’s “Supercop.”
