Italy has experienced its hottest summer in decades

Italy has experienced its hottest summer in more than seven decades, with temperatures reaching record levels across much of the country. According to Italy’s National Research Council Institute for BioEconomy, the average temperature during the summer of 2026 reached 24.3°C (75.7°F), making it the hottest summer recorded since measurements began in 1950.
