Cathedral Basilica of Matera

Perched high above the ancient Sassi of Matera, the Cathedral of Matera is one of the city’s most striking landmarks. Dedicated to the Madonna della Bruna and Saint Eustace, the cathedral was built in the 13th century, beginning around 1230, when Matera was an important religious and cultural center.
