Off to the Murray Hill Market We Will Go!

"Mi piace il cibo//I like the food" is the heart and soul of Little Italy's recently opened contemporary old-fashion neighborhood grocer, deli and caterer. What was in early Little Italy, the site of Laurienzo & Spuzzillo and Paul Minillo two of 30 grocery stores, is now Murray Hill Market, owned by Michelle Buckholtz (Iacobelli) and her husband, Billy. His family operated a grocery store for 75 years at E. 152nd and Aspinwall Avenue in the Collinwood neighborhood where, as a boy, Billy handled deliveries and helped make Italian sausage. Michelle's father was raised in the same neighborhood.

"We have a passion for food, love what we do and love to cook," said Michelle whose family roots trace to near Campobasso in the Molise Region. The Murray Hill Market at the corner of Murray Hill and Paul Roads is fully stocked serving groceries and imported specialties, as well as daily necessities and delicacies to the modern upbeat community of Little Italy and University Circle. Along with the fresh produce, dairy, bakery, deli meats, cheeses and homemade meatballs and sauces, are hundreds of convenience and specialty items.

Murray Hill Market mission is not about selling product or making money but performing a community service and being a good neighbor, by meeting the needs of the neighborhood demographics ranging from students to the Cleveland Orchestra and University Hospital employees.

Helping Michelle, his Mayfield High School graduate wife, is Mayfield Village Councilman Billy Buckholtz who in ‘down time' from his county IT job and Wild Horses rock group on keyboard and lead vocals are Wild Horses Italian ‘rockers' Tony Mazzone of Richmond Heights and Dennis Christopher. Another market helper, when not studying film and communications at NYU (New York University), is their son, Michael. Daughter Samantha (Sam) is zeroing in on her degree from The Ohio State University.

Murray Hill Market at 2072 Murray Hill Road (corner of Murray Hill & Paul) is open 7 days a week from 8a.m. to 8p.m. except on Sundays, when it opens at noon and closes at 6p.m. They love what they do and hope customers from all walks of the Little Italy and University Circle neighborhoods, and elsewhere will also like it.
