The allure of Bloomfield

Where can you find an upscale feminine boutique, where your senses are treated to a unique collection of stylish garments, enhanced by a collection of the owner's self created art work? Just enter the Allure dress shop on Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield and you will immediately be impressed by the eye- catching displays.

Owner/buyer/artist, Ellen Levick has compiled an extraordinary assortment of casual to high fashion dresses, sweaters, and much more, in addition to unique jewelry for accessorizing any woman for that special occasion.

The origin of Allure is a story worth telling. Ellen majored in art and jewelry design and received her undergraduate degree from Seton Hill University. After graduation, she lived in Iran and worked as a teacher. Taking advantage of the locale, Ellen expanded her horizons by traveling extensively in Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Israel, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Tanzania.

No, she did not join the State Department but returned to Pittsburgh and attended Carnegie Mellon University where she worked as a teaching assistant, while majoring in Ceramic Sculpture and received a Masters Degree in Fine Arts.

Ellen opened Allure in Shadyside as an art and jewelry gallery and expanded into clothing. As her business in fashionable clothing increased, she decided to move from Shadyside, as the shopping district was losing its individual look to the chain stores that began moving into the area. She purchased a building on Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield, Pittsburgh's Little Italy. She found Bloomfield an interesting area to re-locate her business and Allure fit in well with the many locally owned shops and restaurants in town. Bloomfield also boasts a vibrant residential area and is the home of West Penn Hospital, which brings professional customers into Allure.

Ellen has specialized in a unique fashion look, unlike the mass-produced styles of the department store. She caters to women of all sizes and feels that Allure and its creative employees can flatter the figure of anyone with any body shape. While shopping at Allure, you can also enjoy a display of Ellen's paintings, ceramics, metal and mixed media sculptures located throughout the shop.

Ellen has built local and national sales by use of her website, word of mouth and over twenty years of hard work, catering to the retail fashion market. She is assisted by a knowledgeable staff that enjoys educating women about the world of fashion and also by her daughter who is in college, studying business fashion and also models Allure's wares.

Men are also made to feel welcome at Allure, including those of us with a limited knowledge of women's fashion. With Valentines Day right around the corner, I am sure that Ellen and her associates will be able to assist you with something special for that someone special in your life.
