Italy enforced a strict 3-day lockdown over Easter weekend in an effort to prevent a surge in Covid-19 cases over the holiday. All Italian regions were in the “red-zone” – the highest tier of restrictions. Non-essential movement was banned; however, families could share Easter meals at home with two other adults. Churches were open, but worshipers were told to attend services within their respective regions. For the second consecutive year, Pope Francis delivered his Easter mass to an empty St. Peter’s Square. Italy’s restrictions come as countries across Europe try to control a surge in cases of the virus, while struggling with a delayed vaccine rollout. More than 70,000 extra police officers were placed on surveillance nationwide to enforce the lockdown. To date, more than 110,000 people have died from the coronavirus in Italy and there have been over 3.6 million confirmed infections. 

Durante il weekend di Pasqua, l’Italia è andata in lockdown di nuovo per diminuire un aunmento nei casi del Corona virus. Tutte le regioni erano in red zone, il livello più alto. Gli spostamenti non necessari erano vietati. Le famiglie potevano  pranzare insieme con due altri adulti. Le chiese erano aperte, ma le persone non potevano andare alla msse fuori la loro città. Per il secondo anno in fila, Papa Francesca ha avuto la messe per Pasqua a San Pietro senza nessuno in presenzia. C’erano più di 70.000 uomini della polizia in sorveglianza per far rispettare il lockdown. Il vaccino non era disponsible in grande quantità ancora, e molti Paesi euopei hanno le restrizioni simili come l’italia. Purtroppo, ci sono più di 110.000 persone che si sono morte del virus e più di 3.6 milione che l’hanno avuto.
