On August 2, 2025, Mayors, Council Members, honored guests, and friends from near and far gathered in Seven Hills, OH, to witness the signing of an agreement establishing a sister city relationship between Seven Hills and Coreno Ausonio, Italy.

Mayor Anthony D. Biasiotta of Seven Hills expressed heartfelt pride and deep gratitude for gathering in Seven Hills to celebrate a truly special connection — one that bridges not only miles and time zones, but also history, heritage, and the enduring spirit of community.

Many families in Greater Cleveland trace their roots directly to Coreno Ausonio, a small town nestled in the Lazio region, known for its warm people, timeless traditions, and the beautiful stone quarries that have supported its people for centuries. Mayor Biasiotta's special connection began with his grandfather, Luigi, who was born and raised in Coreno Ausonio and then immigrated to Cleveland.

This partnership is more than a ceremonial link. It is a living bond — a friendship rooted in shared values, deep cultural ties, and the movement of generations across the ocean.

Coreno Ausonio and Seven Hills may differ in landscape and language, but the cities share something much more important: a commitment to family, faith, hard work, and community. These are the values that immigrants brought with them decades ago, building homes, raising families, and shaping the identity of our country.

Through this sister city relationship, Mayor Costanzo and Mayor Biasiotta affirm that those connections — forged through sacrifice, courage, and hope — are not only remembered but celebrated and strengthened. They open the door to new opportunities for cultural exchange, student learning, shared economic initiatives, and the deepening of personal friendships between our two communities.

Both cities envision future generations learning the dialects and traditions of our forefathers, where families exchange visits, and people collaborate across continents — reminding us that our world is not so vast when hearts are united.

Those in attendance hope this relationship will remind us of where we come from — and where we can go together. Further, they wished to honor the generations before us who journeyed to a new land, and to inspire future generations to stay curious, connected, and proud of their heritage.
